It is with great honour that I welcome you to the Upendra Devkota Memorial National Institute of Neurological and Allied Sciences, Bansbari. This institute is testimony to my late husband’s commitment towards the advancement of neurosciences in his beloved country Nepal.
He spearheaded the innovation and establishment of the first dedicated Neuroscience Institute in the country, providing excellence in patient care. I am proud to be a part of his historic journey, in setting up this institute with precision and a lot of care.
Here neuroscientists work hand in hand with allied specialists to provide the full range of services under one roof for all our patients. Prof Devkota’s legacy guides us to pioneer many more firsts for Neurosciences in Nepal.
Despite the exigencies of the Covid-19 pandemic, 2020 saw us establish the first-ever Bi-plane Cathlab in Nepal, the global gold standard for endovascular treatment. We are now providing advanced and extremely specialised services like thrombectomy for stroke, and coiling for brain aneurysms. These specialised services coupled with the expertise of the Stroke Team and the first dedicated Acute Stroke Unit has enabled us to provide world-class services to our patients.
